we fail because we think we are clever than others. We think we could see things others don't see. So we tend to buy those stocks that others don't buy.
the fact is that 90% of the investors that buy only the large stocks will always win. 90% those who buy "cold" stocks will always lose.

1. Cut-win too soon,,, e.g. cut-win at 20-50% and the stock doubled or tripled,,,
2. Cut-loss too late,,, especially on derivatives and stocks without decent strength,,,
3. Pure bad luck,,, e.g. I hold 604 for over 2 years,,, the price was stagnant,,,, for some reason I needed the monies for urgent use,,, but 2 weeks after I sold it, price doubled,,, and +16 months later,,, price increased six-fold,,, :(

It is an experience. Some are good on stock, some on HSI future, and some on warrant, currency,.....etc.
Whatever you can use those tools to make money, then it is suitable for you.
My experience, I lost badly in HSI future, but doing quite good in stock and warrant. But some people have opposite experience from me for sure:)

Not many of course.
I know few friends who are professional traders at HSI future everyday. They don't make big money, but they live on it for last 6 years.
Too bad, I am not the one with them. I do a little bit better in warrant instead of future.
Stock is a long term investment with big profit return and save if found some good stocks.
Warrant is gambling, up and down pretty fast. High risk and high return(maybe loss) as well

If you put in margin calls, there is no expiry date/no need to close and I earn @3% interest on the entire strike amount. If I keep for 1 year, and the cross currencies dropped by 3%, I am technically EVEN as I would have earned 3% interest.:o:lookaround::reading::soldier:

It is highly leveraged. I can use HKD50,000 margin to control a GBP62,500 (nearly HKD1m) contract. So if JPY weakens against GBP, even by say 1.5% (which is very possible), I can make 1.5% of GBP62,500 or GBP940. They move up and down by hundreds of basis points every day so if you pick the right direction, can make easy money every day.:quiet::o:wondering::reading:

It's easy to make the $4K to 5K per contract but need to have very good timing to make the really big ones. I have sat on contracts that could make 1,000+ basis points (1 point = HK$40 to HK$70) depending on what cross rates contracts you hold but often sold after gaining just 150 points. :o:(:'(:oh::help:
