Does anyone advise whcih brand of car alarm is popular & reliable??

What is your budget?

Low cost >>>> usually becoming a door opening device.
High Cost>>> very high cost lor!!! with tracking...etc

Medium cost>>in my opnion...waste of money.

My advice is...either going for the cheapest or the best ( usually expensive)

Also depends on what car you plan to install...

high risk vehicle>> go for the best if u can afford it

Low risk vehicle>> get a cheap one as a door opener.
