某日,一個醫生在報告上寫上以下句子:

"He was admitted on 3/3/2008 for fever and confusion."

新聞官看到這句後,便在新聞稿寫上:

"He developed fever and confusion on 3/3/2008 and was admitted on

the same day."

請問大家一個連中學生都識的閱讀理解問題,醫生寫得很清楚,他因為發燒和

神智不清於2008/3/3入院.但醫生卻沒有從句子中提及"發燒和神智不清"是

否同時由2008/3/3開始.單憑這句子,新聞官真的可以把醫生的句子理解成:

發燒和神智不清是在2008/3/3發生嗎? (事實上發燒和神智不清是在

2008/3/1發生)

高級醫生看後便責備醫生說道他這樣寫當然令新聞官混淆,是醫生的錯.

請問各位識英文的朋友,大家認為高級醫生的責備合理嗎?

醫生及新聞官雙方都有錯.

首先, 醫生果句"He was admitted on 3/3/2008 for fever and confusion." 係一個fact, 寫得好清楚他因為發燒和神智不清[color=Red]於2008/3/3入院呢個事實.[/color] 但作為一位醫生及關係到一位有"新聞價值" 的人入院, 就有必要寫得再清楚明白d 呢個人是否在同一日開始發燒及神智不清.

而新聞官寫的新聞稿也犯了報導新聞的一個禁忌, 唔夠accurate. 醫生的原句並沒有包含同一日開始發燒及神智不清, 結果佢係寫新聞稿時將呢個意思強加左上去.

所以我認為高級醫生只是責備醫生不完全合理. 但這只是理想主義的判斷, 係現實中高級醫生也只能責備其下屬. :L

Both sentences are accurate and clear.  They just carry different meaning.  Hence the blame from 高級醫生 is unreasonable.

作為一個醫生的角度，我將自己代入去，佢咁寫係好自然的事，只能怪佢寫的時侯沒有想清楚別人有可能在句子中自行推出其他非本意的內容∼∼唔可以話醫生錯，只係可以再做好啲∼∼
記者呢∼∼佢的確加入了自己自行推出來的意思∼∼佢唔夠格做個好的新聞記者∼∼佢錯得比較大∼∼
個高級醫生見有下屬出錯∼∼第一時間撲出嚟咬∼∼好正常∼∼有啲人係鐘意咬人∼∼係天性。

結論係醫生冇錯，記者最錯∼∼
醫生可以做好啲，但係做得更好係冇極限∼∼例如佢可以想清楚別人會否會錯意∼∼會否串錯字∼∼識唔識發音∼∼會否因串錯字而誤解∼∼發音錯又會否誤解？主動續個新聞從業員，睇佢地個稿∼∼等等等等等
我覺得個醫生算係咁啦∼∼

Both are correct and as someone else mentioned, they carry different meanings. Unfortunately, I cannot read Chinese so I'm not sure what else was in your post.

"He was admitted on 3/3/2008 for fever and confusion."
In this case, the person was admitted on that date with fever and confusion being the reasons. There is no indication of when the fever and confusion developed.

"He developed fever and confusion on 3/3/2008 and was admitted on the same day."
In this case, you specify that the person was admitted on the same day that fever and confusion developed.
