Any good external harddisk recommendations?

Requirements:-
1. Back-up photos and personal files etc.
2. Link with my desktop dell computer
3. 250-320 Gb is enough
4. Should I only choose USB2.0 connection
5. Budget ＜$500
6. I think NOT matter for 2.5" or 3.5"
6. Reliable, stable and high cost/perf. ratio
