東京都世田谷区は１２日、同区弦巻５の区道で、区が安全の目安としている空間放射線量（毎時０．２３∼０．２５マイクロシーベルト）の約１１倍にあたる最大毎時２．７０マイクロシーベルト（６日現在）を測定したと発表した。区は「通行するだけでは身体に影響はない」としているが、住民の不安に配慮し、周辺を立ち入り禁止にする緊急措置を取った。
区環境保全課によると、区民が３日、区道の歩道部分を簡易測定器で測定し、「放射線量が高いようだ」と報告。区が圧力洗浄した後、６日に９カ所を測定したところ、０．０８∼２．７０マイクロシーベルトを検出した。
区道は住宅街にあり、区立松丘小の通学路に指定されている。歩道部分は車道より低くなっていることから、同課は「雨水が集まり、放射線量が高くなった可能性がある」としている。今回の結果を受け、区は子供の安全確保のために今月下旬∼１１月、区内にある２５８カ所の公園の砂場で空間放射線量を測定することを決めた。
区道で測定された２．７０マイクロシーベルトは、１日のうち屋外で８時間、屋内で１６時間過ごした条件で計算すると、１日の被ばく量は３８マイクロシーベルト。年間で１４ミリシーベルトとなり、国が避難の基準としている年間２０ミリシーベルトは下回る。
労働安全衛生法の電離放射線障害防止規則では、外部放射線と空気中の放射性物質による実効線量の合計が３カ月間で１．３ミリシーベルトを超えるおそれのある区域は、放射線管理区域に指定するよう定めている。１時間当たりに換算すると毎時２．６０マイクロシーベルトで、通常、原子力施設などではこの値が管理区域に設定する基準となっている
