Lyrics:Hal David Music:Burt Bacharach
Raindrops are falling on my head
I'm just like a guy whose feet are too big for his bed
Nothin' seems to fit
Those raindrops are falling on my head, they keep falling
So I just did me some talking to the sun
And I said I didn't like the way he got things done
Sleeping on the job
Those raindrops are falling on my head, they keep falling
But there's one thi-i-ing I know
The blues they send to meet me won't defeat me
It won't be long till happiness steps up to gree-ee-eet me
'Cau-au-ause raindrops keep falling on my head
Hahh, but that doesn't mean my eyes will soon be turning red
Cryin's not for me
'Cause I'm never gonna stop the rain by complaining
Because I'm free-ee-ee-ee-ee
Nothings worrying me-ee-ee
Raindrops keep falling on my head
Hahh, but that doesn't mean my eyes will soon be turning red
Cryin's not for me
'Cause I'm never gonna stop the rain by complaining
Because I'm free-ee-ee-ee-ee-ee

The Bicycle Scene from Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid

from "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid" (1969) with paul newman as butch cassidy, katharine ross as etta place & robert redford as the sundance kid for a few seconds at the beginning & end
"raindrops keep falling on my head" written by burt bacharach for this film specifically
Paul Newman did his own bicycle stunts, after his stunt man was unable to stay on the bike, except for the scene where Butch crashes backwards into the fence, which was performed by cinematographer Conrad L. Hall. /IMdB/
Katharine Ross enjoyed shooting the silent, bicycle riding sequence best, because it was handled by the film crew's second unit rather than the director. She said, "Any day away from George Roy Hill was a good one." /IMdB/

Lyric & Music written by
Cole Porter
(at Ritz Hotel in Paris,
October 1935)
When they begin
the beguine
it brings back the sound
of music so tender
it brings back a night
of tropical splendor
it brings back a memory evergreen
I'm with you once more
under the stars
and down by the shore
an orchestras playing
and even the palms
seem to be swaying
when they begin
the beguine
to live it again
is past all endeavor
except when that tune
clutches my heart
and there we are swearing to love forever
and promising never
never to part
a moments divine
what rapture serene
to clouds came along
to disperse the joys we had tasted
and now when I hear people curse the chance that was wasted
I know but too well what they mean
*so don't let them begin the beguine
let the love that was once a fire
remain an ember
let it sleep like the dead desire I only remember
when they begin the beguine
oh yes let them begin the beguine
make them play
til the stars that were there before
return above you
till you whisper to me
once more "Darling I Love You"
and we suddenly know what heaven we're in
when they begin
the beguine

Deep down Louisiana close to New Orleans
Way back up in the woods among the evergreens
There stood a log cabin made of earth and wood
Where lived a country boy named Johnny B. Goode
Who never ever learned to read or write so well
But he could play the guitar just like a ringing a bell
Go go
Go Johnny go
Go
Go Johnny go
Go
Go Johnny go
Go
Go Johnny go
Go
Johnny B. Goode
He used to carry his guitar in a gunny sack
Go sit beneath the tree by the railroad track
Oh, the engineerswould see him sitting in the shade
Strumming with the rhythm that the drivers made
People passing by they would stop and say
Oh my that little country boy could play
Go go
Go Johnny go
Go
Go Johnny go
Go
Go Johnny go
Go
Go Johnny go
Go
Johnny B. Goode
His mother told him "Someday you will be a man,
And you will be the leader of a big old band.
Many people coming from miles around
To hear you play your music when the sun go down
Maybe someday your name will be in lights
Saying Johnny B. Goode tonight."
Go go
Go Johnny go
Go go go Johnny go
Go go go Johnny go
Go go go Johnny go
Go
Johnny B. Goode

I'll pack up all my things and walk away,
I don't want to hear another word you have to say
I've been waiting for so long
I just found out there's something wrong
And nothing will get better if I stay
There's no need to explain anymore
I tried my best to love you, now I'm walking out the door
You used me, you deceived me,
And you never seemed to need me
But I'll bet you won't forget me when I go
Seems I've been lost in a dream
Pretending that you care
But now I've opened up my eyes
And found it's all been just a great big fairytale
I've been lovin' you so long
I don't think I even know how to forget you
But now the way that things have been
I think I'm better off alone
Than to be with you
There's no need to explain anymore
I tried my best to love you, now I'm walking out the door
You used me, you deceived me,
And you never seemed to need me
But I'll bet you won't forget me when I go
Seems like I've been lost in a dream
Pretending you were mine
Someday you'll open up your eyes
And realize that a good man's hard to find

Will haunt me ever after
The music of your laughter
Will serenade my heart.
A thousand thoughts of you
Will roam the night and find me
With chains of love, they'll bind me
To dreams that won't depart.
Your face,
Your smile,
The moonlight in your hair
Your lips,
Your eyes,
I'll see them everywhere.
A thousand kisses, too
Will keep me reminiscing
For there'll be no dismissing
A thousand thoughts of you.
A thousand kisses, too
Will keep me reminiscing
For there'll be no dismissing
A thousand thoughts of you.

Higher higher

Girl, girl, girl

Like the sweet song of a choir
You light my morning sky
With burning love
Ooh, ooh, ooh,
I feel my temperature rising
Help me, I'm flaming
I must be a hundred and nine
Burning, burning, burning
And nothing can cool me
I just might turn into smoke
But I feel fine
Cause your kisses lift me higher
Like a sweet song of a choir
And you light my morning sky
With burning love
It's coming closer
The flames are now licking my body
and won't you help me
I feel like I'm slipping away
It's hard to breathe
And my chest is a-heaving
Lord have mercy,
I'm burning a hole where I lay
Cause your kisses lift me higher
Like the sweet song of a choir
You light my morning sky
With burning love
With burning love
Ah, ah, burning love
I'm just a hunk, a hunk of burning love
Just a hunk, a hunk of burning love
Just a hunk, a hunk of burning love
Just a hunk, a hunk of burning love
Just a hunk, a hunk of burning love
Just a hunk, a hunk of burning love
Just a hunk, a hunk of burning love

And you'll be on your way
Then my wild beautiful bird,
you will have flown, oh
Any day now,I'll be all alone,
whoa-oa-oa-oa-oa
Any day now, when your restless
eyes meet someone new
Oh, to my sad surprise
Then the blue shadows will fall
all over town, oh
Any day now love will let me down,
whoa-oa-oa-oa-oa
Oh my wild beautiful bird,
you will have flown, oh
Any day now I'll be all alone
I know I shouldn't want to keep you
If you don't want to stay-ay
Until you go forever
I'll be holding on for dear life
Holding you this way
Begging you to stay
Any day now when the clock strikes "Go"
You'll call it off
And then my tears will flow
Then the blue shadows will fall
all over town, oh
Any day now love will let me down
cuz you won't be around
Don't fly away, my beautiful bird
Don't, don't fly away

When the blackbird in the Spring,
'Neath the willow tree,
Sat and rock'd, I heard him sing,
Singing Aura Lea.
Aura Lea, Aura Lea,
Maid with golden hair;
Sunshine came along with thee,
And swallows in the air.
Chorus:
Aura Lea, Aura Lea,
Maid with golden hair;
Sunshine came along with thee,
And swallows in the air.
In thy blush the rose was born,
Music, when you spake,
Through thine azure eye the morn,
Sparkling seemed to break.
Aura Lea, Aura Lea,
Birds of crimson wing,
Never song have sung to me,
As in that sweet spring.
(Chorus)
Aura Lea! the bird may flee,
The willow's golden hair
Swing through winter fitfully,
On the stormy air.
Yet if thy blue eyes I see,
Gloom will soon depart;
For to me, sweet Aura Lea
Is sunshine through the heart.
(Chorus)
When the mistletoe was green,
Midst the winter's snows,
Sunshine in thy face was seen,
Kissing lips of rose.
Aura Lea, Aura Lea,
Take my golden ring;
Love and light return with thee,
And swallows with the spring.
(Chorus)

"Aura Lee" (also known as "Aura Lea") is an American Civil War song about a maiden. It was written by W. W. Fosdick (words) and George R. Poulton (music).
The Elvis Presley song "Love Me Tender" (lyric by Ken Darby) is a derivative adaptation of this song. A later Presley recording for the film The Trouble with Girls entitled "Violet (Flower of N.Y.U.)" also used the melody of "Aura Lee".
There is also a version of "Aura Lee" called "Army Blue" associated with the U.S. Military Academy. The tune is sung to lyrics specific to the academy; the original lyrics to that version were by George T. Olmstead, an 1865 graduate of the academy. It is the running theme music in the background of the 1954 John Ford film The Long Gray Line.
Aura Lee was memorably sung by Frances Farmer and a male chorus in the 1936 film Come and Get It, based on Edna Ferber's novel.
The television comedy F Troop used a variation

Amazing video of Elvis' performance at The Mississippi-Alabama Fair
and Dairy Show on 29. Sept 1956. The filmer is positioned at the left
side of the stage, so close that Elvis at one point nearly steps on him/her!
The AUDIO is very good, considering the vintage.
Afternoon show
Heartbreak Hotel
Long Tall Sally
I Was The One
I Want You, I Need You , I Love You
I Got a Woman
Don't Be Cruel
Ready Teddy
Love Me Tender
Hound Dog
Elvis' 1956 homecoming concerts in Tupelo were a great event for all considered, the city, the Presley family and every resident, including 14 year-old Virginia Wynette Pugh, who would later rise to fame eleven years later as country star Tammy Wynette.
The shows were amazing.

Weeping And why And why
Ah 'tis faith you are lacking hear me
One fine day we'll notice
A thread of smoke arising on the sea
In the far horizon
And then the ship appearing
Then the trim white vessel
Glides into the harbour
Thunders forth her cannon
See you Now he is coming
I do not go to meet him not I
I stay upon the brow of the hillock
And wait there
And wait for a long time
But never weary of the long waiting
From out the crowded city
There is coming a man
A little speck in the distance
Climbing the hillock
Can you guess who it is
And when he's reached the summit
Can you guess what he'll say
He will call Butterfly from the distance
I without answering
Hold myself quietly concealed
A bit to tease him and a bit
So as not to die at our first meeting
And then a little troubled
He will call he will call
Dear baby wife of mine
Dear little orange blossom
The names he used to call me when he came here
This will all come to pass as I tell you
Banish your idle fears
For he will return
Return

O Master, let me walk with Thee,
In lowly paths of service free;
Tell me Thy secret; help me bear
The strain of toil, the fret of care.
Help me the slow of heart to move
By some clear, winning word of love;
Teach me the wayward feet to stay,
And guide them in the homeward way.
O Master, let me walk with Thee,
Before the taunting Pharisee;
Help me to bear the sting of spite,
The hate of men who hide Thy light.
The sore distrust of souls sincere
Who cannot read Thy judgments clear,
The dullness of the multitude,
Who dimly guess that Thou art good.
Teach me Thy patience; still with Thee
In closer, dearer, company,
In work that keeps faith sweet and strong,
In trust that triumphs over wrong.
In hope that sends a shining ray
Far down the future’s broadening way,
In peace that only Thou canst give,
With Thee, O Master, let me live.

Of all the girls I've known, and I've known some,
Until I first met you I was lonesome,
And when you came in sight, dear, my heart grew light
And this old world seemed new to me.
You're really swell I have to admit, you
Deserve expressions that really fit you,
And so I've racked my brain, hoping to explain
All the things that you do to me
Bei Mir Bist Du Schoen, please let me explain,
Bei Mir Bist Du Schoen means that you're grand.
Bei Mir Bist Du Schoen, again I'll explain,
It means you're very stimulant
I could say 'Bella, bella,' even say 'Wunderbar.'
Each language only helps me tell you how grand you are.
I've tried to explain 'Bei Mir Bist Du Schoen.'
So kiss me and say you understand.
...Bei mir bist du schoen it means that you're grand...
I could say 'Bella, bella,' even say 'Wunderbar.'
Each language only helps me tell you how grand you are.
I've tried to explain 'Bei Mir Bist Du Schoen.'
So kiss me and say you understand

Roamed the hills of Georgia
Crossed the plains of Tennessee
I've seen and I've done most everything
That a man can do or see
But if I could only borrow
one dream from yesterday
I'd be on that train tomorrow
I'd be home on Christmas day
Its been so many times before
She left that candle burning
Oh, too many tears that fell
My soul fills with yearning
If I had any sense at all
I'd just be on my way
Be on that train tomorrow
Be home on Christmas day
Everytime I think about her
All the love I left behind
Memories still linger in my troubled mind
I could set aside my pride
And I'd be on my way
I'd catch that train tomorrow
And be home on Christmas day
If I had any sense at all
I'd just be on my way
I'd catch that train tomorrow
I'd be home on Christmas day
I said I'd catch that train tomorrow
I'd be home on Christmas day

Writer: GORNEY, JAY / HARBURG, E. Y.
They used to tell me I was building a dream
And so I followed the mob
When there was earth to plow or guns to bear
I was always there right on the job
They used to tell me I was building a dream
With peace and glory ahead
Why should I be standing in line
Just waiting for bread
Once I built a railroad, I made it run
Made it race against time
Once I built a railroad, now it's done
Brother, can you spare a dime
Once I built a tower up to the sun
Brick and rivet and lime
Once I built a tower, now it's done
Brother, can you spare a dime?
Once in khaki suits, gee we looked swell
Full of that Yankee-Doodly-dum
Half a million boots went slogging through Hell
And I was the kid with the drum
Say, don't you remember, they called me "Al"
It was "Al" all the time
Why don't you remember, I'm your pal
Say buddy, can you spare a dime
Once in khaki suits, ah gee we looked swell
Full of that Yankee-Doodly-dum
Half a million boots went slogging through Hell
And I was the kid with the drum
Oh, say, don't you remember, they called me "Al"
It was "Al" all the time
Say, don't you remember, I'm your pal
Buddy, can you spare a dime

Smile though your heart is aching
Smile even though it's breaking
When there are clouds in the sky, you'll get by
If you smile through your fear and sorrow
Smile and maybe tomorrow
You'll see the sun come shining through for you
Light up your face with gladness
Hide every trace of sadness
Although a tear may be ever so near
That's the time you must keep on trying
Smile, what's the use of crying?
You'll find that life is still worthwhile
If you just smile
That's the time you must keep on trying
Smile, what's the use of crying?
You'll find that life is still worthwhile
If you just smile

"Smile" is a song based on an instrumental theme used in the soundtrack for the 1936 Charlie Chaplin movie Modern Times. Chaplin composed the music, while John Turner and Geoffrey Parsons added the lyrics and title in 1954.[1] In the lyrics, the singer is telling the listener to cheer up and that there is always a bright tomorrow, just as long as they smile. "Smile" has become a popular standard since its original use in Chaplin's film.

On that famous thoroughfare, with their noses in the air
High hats and Arrowed collars, white spats and lots of dollars
Spending every dime, for a wonderful time

If you're blue and you don't know where to go to
Why don't you go where fashion sits,
Puttin' on the ritz.
Different types who wear a daycoat, pants with stripes
And cut away coat, perfect fits,
Puttin' on the ritz.
Dressed up like a million dollar trouper
Trying hard to look like Gary Cooper (super duper)
Come let's mix where Rockefellers walk with sticks
Or umbrellas in their mitts
Puttin' on the Ritz
Tips his hat just like an english chappie
To a lady with a wealthy pappy (very snappy)
You'll declare it's simply topping to be there
And hear them swapping smart titbits
Puttin' on the ritz!

Let me take to to Alexander's grandstand, brass band,
Ain't you comin' along?
[Chorus]
Come on and hear, come on and hear
Alexander's Ragtime Band;
Come on and hear, come on and hear,
It's the best band in the land.
Can they play a bugle call
Like you never heard before,
So natural that you want to go to war;
That's just the bestest band what am, honey lamb!
Come on along, come on along,
Let me take you by the hand
Up to the man, up to the man
Who's the leader of the band;
And I would like to hear the Swanee River played in ragtime,
Come on and hear, come on and hear

Oh! ma honey, Oh! ma honey,
There's a fiddle with notes that screeches
Like a chicken, like a chicken,
And the clarinet is a colored pet.
Come and listen, come and listen
To a classical band what's peaches, come now, somehow,
Better hurry along!

The unrecognized Bix Beiderbecke #2 - Alabammy Snow

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9yqXIrAZ9cY&hd=1

On 15 May 1929 a small contingent of the Paul Whiteman Orchestra recorded two sides for Columbia - "What A Day" and "Alabammy Snow".
The record was issued under the pseudonym "The Mason-Dixon Orchestra" but it is not clear why this was done; Okeh (a subsidiary label of Columbia) always issued recordings with a similar personnel under saxophonist Frank Trumbauer's name.
It is rumoured that "Tram" once stated that cornetist Bix Beiderbecke did not record with his orchestra after the session of two weeks earlier, 30 April 1929.
But with a slightly different personnel under another name and for another label, this one-off session may not have been under Tram's direction, nor was it perhaps organized by him.
The discographies have always named three trumpeters/cornetists for this date, Charlie Margulis, Harry Goldfield and Andy Secrest, all three Whiteman regulars and the latter known for his ability to sound like Bix, who was being featured less and less and was to leave the band permanently in September.
But at the time of the Mason-Dixon recording date, Bix was still very much with Whiteman and it would have been logical if he was present; he had done a radio show with the band the day before and recorded in the same Columbia studio with them the day after.
Still, in the discographies and books about Bix it has always been accepted that he was not present and that everything on this record that sounds like Bix was actually played by Secrest.
However, careful listening and deducting reveals that Bix can be heard on both sides.
Using the latest techniques we have newly restored both titles from a mint copy of Columbia 1861-D and identification of Bix has become quite obvious.
First of all, on both sides, Secrest is the very prominent lead cornetist and it seems that behind him there are indeed two more horns present; one of them being Bix.

On "What A Day", it can only be Bix who takes the final bridge beginning at 2:40.
This soft and subdued 8-bar solo is typical for him and in stark contrast with Secrest's dominating lead which immediately precedes and follows it.
Also it can clearly be heard that the two have different positions in relation to the microphone; Secrest is further away from it than the soloist and we are confident that this is Bix.
Addendum: Altoalto makes another interesting point : Secrest is out of tune, especially in the ensembles of the last chorus. However, Bix plays the middle eight perfectly in tune.
On "Alabammy Snow" there seem to be two horns in the written ensembles (with Secrest again prominent) while the third, Bix, is filling in here and there - most significantly two descending phrases in the background from ca. 0:28 and another line, typical for him, in the final chorus at 2:29.
Neither of these phrases can be by Secrest who is heard simultaneously, nor do they sound anything like Margulis or Goldfield and we are confident that they are by Bix.
Note: all Bix Beiderbecke biographies that mention the session as well as "Jazz Records" name this title incorrectly as "Alabamy Snow".

Mr. What-ya-call-em what you doin' tonight
Hope you're in the mood because I'm feeling just right
How's about a corner with a table for two
Where the music's mellow in some gay rendezvous
There's no chance romancin' with a blue attitude
You got to do some dancin' to get in the mood
/ C - - - / / F - - - / C - - - / G7 - - - / C F Ab7 C /
Sister What-ya-call-em that's a kindly idea
Something swing-a-dilla would be good to my ear
Ev'rybody must agree the dancin' has charm
When you have the certain one you love in your arms
Steppin' out with you will be a sweet interlude
A builder-up with that will put me in the mood
In the mood - that's it I got it
In the mood - your ear will spot it
In the mood - oh, what a hot hit
Be alive and get the jive
You've got to learn how

Hep, hep, hep - hep like a hepper
Pep, pep, pep - hot as a pepper
Step, step, step - step like a stepper
We're muggin' and huggin'
We're in the mood now
Mr. What-ya-call-em all you needed was fun
You can see the wonders that this evenin' has done
Your feet were so heavy 'til they hardly could move
Now they're light as feathers and you're right in the groove
You were only hungry for some musical food
You're positively, absolutely in the mood
Sister What-ya-call-em I'm indebted to you
It all goes to show what good influence can do
Never felt so happy and so fully alive
Seems that jammin' jumpin' is a powerful jive
Swingeroo is giving me a new attitude
My heart is full of rhythm and I'm in the mood
In the mood that's it 'cause I got it and I'm
In the mood your ear will spot it when you're
In the mood bobbity bop a diddly-bop-a-bop-a
Be alive and get the jive
You've got to learn how
Hep, hep, hep, you're hep like a hepper full of

One, two, three o'clock, four o'clock, rock,
Five, six, seven o'clock, eight o'clock, rock,
Nine, ten, eleven o'clock, twelve o'clock, rock,
We're gonna rock around the clock tonight.
Put your glad rags on and join me, hon,
We'll have some fun when the clock strikes one,
We're gonna rock around the clock tonight,
We're gonna rock, rock, rock, 'til broad daylight.
We're gonna rock, gonna rock, around the clock tonight.
When the clock strikes two, three and four,
If the band slows down we'll yell for more,
We're gonna rock around the clock tonight,
We're gonna rock, rock, rock, 'til broad daylight.
We're gonna rock, gonna rock, around the clock tonight.
When the chimes ring five, six and seven,
We'll be right in seventh heaven.
We're gonna rock around the clock tonight,
We're gonna rock, rock, rock, 'til broad daylight.
We're gonna rock, gonna rock, around the clock tonight.
When it's eight, nine, ten, eleven too,
I'll be goin' strong and so will you.
We're gonna rock around the clock tonight,
We're gonna rock, rock, rock, 'til broad daylight.
We're gonna rock, gonna rock, around the clock tonight.
When the clock strikes twelve, we'll cool off then,
Start a rockin' round the clock again.
We're gonna rock around the clock tonight,
We're gonna rock, rock, rock, 'til broad daylight.
We're gonna rock, gonna rock, around the clock tonight.

Crazy man crazy
Crazy man crazy
Crazy man crazy
Oh man that music's gone, gone
(I said) Crazy man crazy
Crazy man crazy
Crazy man crazy
Oh man that music's gone, gone
When I go out and I want a treat
I find me a band with a solid beat
Take my chick and we dance about
When they start rockin
Boy we start to shout (we shout)
Go, go, go everybody
Go, go, go everybody
Go, go, go everybody
Go, go, go,.go, go, go, go
They play it soft, they play it strong
They play it wild and they play it long
They just keep playin till the break of day
To keep them rockin all you gotta say is
Crazy man crazy
Crazy man crazy
Crazy man crazy
Oh man that music's gone, gone
(I said) Crazy man crazy
Crazy man crazy
Crazy man crazy
Oh man that music's gone, gone

Ah ! Qui me rendra mon pays
Haiti
C'est toi mon seul paradis
Haiti
Ah ! Dieu me rappelle
Tes forêts si belles
Tes grands horizons
Loin de tes rivages
La plus belle cage
N'est qu'une prison
Oui !! Mon désir , mon cri d'amour
Haiti
C'est de te revenir un jour
Oh, beau pays bleu
Bien loin, bien loin sous d'autres cieux
Je vivais des jours heureux
Mais tout est fini
Seule dans mon exil aujourd'hui
Je chante, le coeur meurtri
Oui ! mon désir mon cri d'amour
Haiti
C'est de te revenir un jour
Haiti !!!

Unchain my heart, baby let me be
Unchain my heart 'cause you don't care about me
You've got me sewed up like a pillow case
but you let my love go to waste so
Unchain my heart, oh please, please set me free
Unchain my heart, baby let me go
Unchain my heart, 'cause you don't love me no more
Ev'ry time I call you on the phone
Some fella tells me that you're not at home so
Unchain my heart, oh please, please set me free
I'm under your spell like a man in a trance
But I know darn well, that I don't stand a chance so
Unchain my heart, let me go my way
Unchain my heart, you worry me night and day
Why lead me through a life of misery
when you don't care a bag of beans for me
So unchain my heart, oh please, please set me free
< sax solo>
I'm under your spell like a man in a trance
But I know darn well, that I don't stand a chance so
Unchain my heart, let me go my way
Unchain my heart, you worry me night and day
Why lead me through a life of misery
when you don't care a bag of beans for me
So unchain my heart, please, please set me free
(please set me free)
Oh won't you set me free
(please set me free)
Woah, set me free
(please set me free)
Woowow, set me free little darlin
(please set me free)
Oh won't you set me free

Well, I got a gal, she lives up on the hill
Well, this woman's tryin' to quit me, Lord, but I love her still
She's got eyes like diamonds, they shine like Klondike gold1
She's got eyes like diamonds, they shine like Klondike gold
Ev'ry time she loves me, she sends my mellow soul
Well, you're so beautiful, you've got to die someday
Well, you're so beautiful, you've got to die someday
All I want's a little loving, just before you pass away
Pretty baby, I'm goin' away and leave you by yourself
Pretty baby, I'm goin' away and leave you by yourself
You've mistreated me, now you can mistreat somebody else
