動人的喜劇
杰伊·杜普拉斯和馬克·杜普拉斯兩兄弟雖然拍攝過的作品不多，但他們名下的《紙袋頭》和《賽勒斯》這兩部風格迥異的作品還是為他們在好萊塢贏得了不少的贊譽。尤其是《賽勒斯》一片，在搞笑的同時還探討了發人深省的母子關系，令人動容。在這部《宅男杰夫》里，杜普拉斯兄弟的野心明顯更大，他們不僅討論了母子關系，甚至連家庭關系和兄弟關系都有所展現。關于這部電影，馬克說：“《宅男杰夫》是一部很有趣的電影，它是一部喜劇，更是一部劇情片。有時候，人們會覺得喜劇就是哈哈一樂，可事實并不總是這樣。在這部電影里，我就希望人們能看到事情的另一面，看到人物之間的關系和他們心態的變化。站在這個角度上說，《宅男杰夫》又是一部劇情片。”
