In my experience, unless u know the market very well, otherwise it is dangerous to buy an individual share in the overseas market. But insteads, I'll buy a profolio of funds and let somebodies to manage the fund. The few % commission is worth to pay.
Also, the PE of Jap market is not cheap (PE > 30+ ?) and is highly flutuated. The economic figures in Jap is good, but the YEN and stock markets keep dropping.
If u want to buy cheap Asian market, u should choose Korea.
Share ur Jap experience afterward.

Sorry to say that I don't like the Japanese market...........at present time.
I prefer the European Market.
If you can take risk,I suggest Vietnam Market.

The PE of Vietnam is extraordinary high (double than that of Japan (?)). And also, the only Vietnam fund - JF Vietnam was closed in day 1. You have no way to buy the market directly.

Yes the PE is very high , as too much money around, and too little shares in the market.
In fact there are not many public company where you can buy their shares.
JF Vietnam Fund is a close Fund.
They only accept new money from investors when they ( think it is suitable /or /when they feel like it.)
I got some in early 2007.
However, the prospect is very good,as their growth will be very fast.
Many Inernational investors will go into their market. They may be similar to the growth in China 10 years ago........I think
