I think so, it is not logic that one country has two types currency with different exchange rate!  RMB can remain as non-international trade currency and let HK dollars to be free trade!

IF HKD HOOK UP WITH RMB  -- WHEN   CHINA GOVERMENT CONTROL THE CURRENCY OR ECONOMIC THAT MEAN CHINA GOVERMENT CONTROL HK ECONOMIC

HONG KONG IS A SAMPLE FOR TAIWANESE THAT CHINESE CAN LIVE BETTER UNDER TWO SYSTEM IN ONE COUNTRY.

If off hook, may be FREE FALL!

No way off hook for HK$ because Mr.Yum(HK monetary authority) already said so
.....the coming 10-years will still hook with US$  For your own interest ,
exchange all your cash to other foreign currencies....like A$ , NZ$....only leaving
a small amount of HK$ for your daily uses..

We are all living in an uncertain world.....well prepared for the worst to come.....
U.S.economic situation is now changing from bad to worse.....
who knows what will be the next to come up

HKD and USD must go off hook when RMB is too strong!  Otherwise, HK people will had a hard life as US economy is turning from bad to worse;  I think Mr. Yam is not a fool.........If HKD goes off hook, with the backing of RMB, HKD can RE-HOOK with USD at a higher rate.  Let say 1$USD : 6.8$ HKD..........
