Spurs return offered to West Ham's Sheringham
- January 30, 2007
Tottenham boss Martin Jol has offered West Ham veteran Teddy Sheringham a shock return to White Hart Lane.
The Daily Mail says the possibility arose after Jol approached West Ham with a view to signing striker Marlon Harewood for £8million before the transfer window closes at midnight on Wednesday night.
While Harewood is his main target, Jol also expressed interest in Sheringham, 40. Any deal would depend on Spurs' Egypt striker Mido agreeing a £3m move to Manchester City or Celta Vigo.
Charlton and Watford wanted Sheringham to lead their survival bids but West Ham rejected the advances from both their relegation rivals. Blackburn and Aston Villa have also considered bids but Sheringham has made it clear he wants to stay in London.
