Pomerol Gem-l'Eglise-Clinet 1995

A wine that I'd like to try. I 've high hope on this Pomerol gem and uncorked this wine yesterday.

The price for this wine is high and it gets high praise from RP. Once it was uncorked, the nose was very expressive and fragrant, a high class wine. The colour was very deep, a thick wine, the first sip was oaky, fruity, sweet, medium-full bodied, tamed tannins, but somewhat slightly diluted on mid-palate, and the wine seemed to be backward. The finish was not as long as expected. After an hour's breathing, it got improvement but still not fully blossom. Given its reputation and price tag, I had little disappointment on its performance. Wonderful nose but taste..... feeling strange.

ching, I think the wine is kind of closed or going through a dumb stage, just curious how long did you decant the bottle for ?
"but somewhat slightly diluted on mid-palate" this may be the answer, a hollow mid-palate may suggest the wine is not awake, I suspect the wine should be decanted for at least 4-6 hours or even longer, 1995 is a more than good vintage for Pomerol and this is a very solid chateau.

C hing, the wine was decanted for an hour. Surely not enough time. That's why I've reservation on
my tasting.
