Bowie: 'Tryst is not gone, just on hold'
Wynn Macau will close the doors to Tryst on Saturday, April 21, but it could be resurrected when the time is right, says Grant Bowie, president and general manager for Wynn Resorts.
“The night-time venue did not work as we expected,” Bowie says. “This is part of a continued experiment and Mr. Wynn’s approach is to do different things to enliven the place and create a new environment.”
The game plan now, is to redevelop the lobby lounge, he says, with a lobby bar that extends out to the pool and use the space in Tryst for a private gaming area by September.
“The key is that we are redeveloping the lobby lounge and creating a new lobby bar to include the pool area. People tell us we need one, and we would like to create a destinational bar for them. That’s what seems most popular. We want to give more appeal for people to go and have a drink for most of the day. Somewhere along the track, as we expand, Tryst may resurrect itself in another form.”
Wynn Macau is expanding and plans to open a new entrance in the third quarter of this year.
MGM Grand Macau, meanwhile, have decided not to jump in and test the waters. They're taking a ‘wait and see’ approach with respect to nightclubs, says Bob Moon, president and CEO of MGM International.
“We have not decided what we will initially do in regards to the nightclub venues,” he says. “You could spend a lot of capital to build something just to tear it out. We would prefer to evaluate what is right for the market.”
in love with the nature...
