HK$14000 seem ok, because it was a very very big improvement from D200...

how much is that camera?

Will be out in a couple of weeks........... in US, it is $1899. It won't be too expensive here in Hong Kong officially.

I would choose D2X (used) in this case.
Nikon top of the range product made in Japan.
For quality control much better than Thailand made products like D300.
Plus you also save additional money in battery grip.
(D300 battery grip MB-D10 cost you around additional $1850)
Noice control should be better than D300.
Menu in more fine details and can customise that suit your needs than D300.

I followed your advice and bought a D2X......... and the feeling is just great to have nikon flagship in hand.

But it shows "Error" when I connect a Nikon AF 300mm 2.8 to it. Can anybody here tell me what happened?
