Poutine in HK

the one and only truly (Quebecois) Canadian food...

this is the ultimate food that one bowl will throw your cholesterol level off the charts and headed into the land of eternal heart attacks.  ^_^

Poutine - french fries with gravy and cheese curds.

i found 2 places on HKI side that serves it, both in Central.

Cul-de-sac in LKF (中環榮華里17 號地下)
and
Daddyos on Stanton+Graham in Soho (中環士丹頓街29號)

gonna give one of them a try tonight, see if they're authentic...  as of yet, i've not found one small restaurant that serves decent gravy, not the powder stuff from Triple-O's.  (like the Lamb Demiglace from Zubees on Homer st. in Vancouver).  and i never use gravy for steak if the steak is good.  if i have the available tools in HK and 2x100L pots, i might consider making my own batch of demiglace.  i have the perfect recipe, just need to wait for next year when i have the time to grow some fresh herbs.

tried Daddyos, other foods are decent, but the poutine is blah, and fake.

still looking for authentic poutine in HK... if anyone has any ideas

I have not tried this before. Cannot help u ar...!

間中食下都OK, 不過我嫌D GRAVY好重MSG, 加拿大人食薯條好喜歡加GRAVY結果整到薯條淋哂, 係加拿大FOOD COURT好似有間叫NEWYORKFRIES都有類似食物不過冇CHEESE

new york fries 係有 poutine, 但係 d gravy 就用 powder mix出來, 所以唔好食.

香港問題在於搵唔搵到cheese curds(有d似檸檬汁倒落牛奶咁樣既物體)

冇錯好多GRAVY都係用粉MIX出來所以味道有D怪, 反而我去過D細餐廳佢地會用BEEF BROTH加少少牛肉味精再加D CORN STRACH 味道會好少少!

NEWYORK FIRIES好似安真係可以加CHEESE而且D薯條比較粗D ,不過我本人對HEESE麻麻所以食原味, 當年好似成3個幾加紙一杯, 都幾貴下, 相當於差不多成20多蚊食一杯薯條, 係香港可以食一個麥記COMBO

加國快餐有時都幾特別混合左好多國家既野, 正如QUEBEC既法式食品, 仲有墨西哥同美式食品, 我試過食一隻叫CHILI DOG既熱狗, 係用傳統既熱狗加墨西哥既豆肉醬, 味道都幾有趣似食肉醬意粉同熱狗一齊食都幾有CROSSOVER既感, 至於POUTINE都俾我這種感覺, 因為老番食燒牛肉會淋上GRAVY, 感覺有燒牛肉同薯條一起食的感覺

well, quebecois 法國菜其實主要同美國南部(現叫"cajun", 古時叫acadian, creole法屬黑人文化地方) lousiana野同一起點.  所以好重spice, 多數係mix pot stew, 主食係米飯.  所以一樣有jambalaya, gumbo, 等法屬黑人菜.  poutine算新潮快餐food, 算入montreal jewish既油膩食品同類, 最後就係加國東部maple syrup based既食物(smoked ham, back bacon, baked beans, ...), 算quebecois countryside cuisine.  gumbo入面有我超愛食既okra(香港叫毛茄)同andouille sausage(南法國式既粗製腊腸).

chili dog全北美都有, 最好既food court版就一定係j.kwinter, 佢地有4種唔同既腸, fries(有皮既wedge)又炸得好. 加拿大有chili dog都要到80年代尾先比較多, 同期cheese dog(係條frank中間有cheese嗰啲)開始出名.  我中學成日開車落bellvue買cheese dog番去bbq.

"感覺有燒牛肉同薯條一起食的感覺"

有同感.  就係d gravy同cheese curd既口感先會愛上食poutine.
