My tasting note:  GOOD !  

Well, since never before have I tried describing a wine, I don't really know kow.

But let me try (from memory):  
First thing that comes to mind is it was quite complex, with loads of fruit; evoled in the mouth with quite long finish;  medium body; good acidity.  Comapared to a recent vintage (forgot what year) Cloudy Bay SB I had a couple months ago, this Kim Crawford was much more complex and pleasing.

大家估下減酒稅後葡萄酒會平幾多? 以前如果進口一支 $100 元的酒打稅  $80, 加運費和倉稅後進口商的成本約 $200 左右, 若果 markup 20%-30% 賣給零售商, 零售商的成本大約 $250, 零售商 markup 30-50% 給客人, 到客人手上售價大約要 $350. 現在減了 $40 稅後, 如果利潤不變 (等於變相 markup 多了), 售價是 $310, 那麼消費者其實只是平了 11%. 如果是不經進口商直接進口葡萄酒的商舖, 才有幾會平到 15% 吧.

其實減稅初期,大行進口嘅party wine的確係會有相當嘅減幅,因為以前水位實在太高;但本地出售嘅fine wine減價水位唔多,因為好多搶手貨響外地都好貼價,依家零售大行放一堆出黎比人搶,只係比下面財爺,睇佢個樣遲d未又係貨源歸邊,舊價出貨!

今晚酒友飯局:

Tua Rita Giusto di Notri Toscana IGT 2003
6:30開,double decant,開頭好香果味,但慢慢收左,八點半左右開始飲,果唔多出,有香料味,finish短.飲到十點左右支酒仲變緊,果出左d,又有d薄荷味,只係少左d層次,finish又唔討好,味唔係好出.

Chapelle d'Ausone 2002
6:00開,double decant,一開有d香氣,酸度足.八點半開始飲, 紅莓味好鮮! 有少少泥土味,有d木桶香,支酒好幼細,風格似Figeac, 一支好高雅嘅酒.

La Dame de Montrose 2000
又係6:00開,double decant,香氣唔多夠,中段有d果出左,但酒精味有d搶,層次唔夠鮮明,飲到正酒嘅影子,但仍未開.

小弟由舊版面睇到依家,響好多高手身上學到野,希望大家多d發言,多d交流!!!

舊年份的 fine wine 香港和外地的價格分別不是很大, 但新年份的酒香港貴很多. 就算比星架坡最少都貴 20% 以上.  所以冇可能冇水位的.

Big brother...any recommandation for the "Merlot"? Below HKD 300 is ok for me...

The Shafer Merlot is quite good but over your budget.  Otherwise the Duckhorn merlot on page 2 should be fine too.

If you accept mixed grapes with primarily merlot, right bank bordeaux will give you more choice.

唔怪得上次覺得佢掂啦!!!
用木桶比較有節制之餘又有變化, 不過接近成千銀就...

另外我試過支trinity oaks
如果接受到美式肥大風格的話都可以一試

From USA:
I was usually not disappointed by Washington's COLUMBIA CREST upper grades of Merlot(s).   $300 or below should be plenty.

Columbia Crest Grande Estate serious.
i like the Chardonnay most.

For Merlot below $300.......No idea other than CC.  Should choose Area such as Western Aust or Washington. Dry climate and more layers.
If u like big and fat wine, Napa, South Aust such as Hunter Valley should be considered.
One of the interesting area to explore is the South France, there are many new world style new products in the market recently such as Abbott or Michel Lunch Circus.
Enjoy 2007 with lower tax.

As I have never been to Wine Buff before, I made a trip to visit at lunch time today.  AND... at 1:25pm their blue metal shutter was tightly closed !!     There wasn't any sign outside indicating its opening hours either  

Does anyone know if they are still in business ?

did any of you have experience in buying old wines from overseas merchants (over Internet) and ship them to HK direct?  anything can be shared?
i am interested in some old italian wine at rather reasonable price, but just concern the shipping arrangement and other minor details

Some 2003 Bordeaux have been marketed. i have a bottle d Guaurd Larose second 2003 from Watson's but not yet tried. only 299.

Please please please, do not call me Master.  I am just one of the many many wine lovers here.

Yes 2003 is in the market now and many of them are very tasty even at such young stage.  I tried a lot of them and in particular I like the following:

Potent Canet
Pavillon 2nd of margaux
Lascombe
Gurard Larose
Branaire Ducru
Leoville Poyferre
Lagona Barton
La fort de latour
latour
Caurade de lafite

and of course, there are some disappointments.
The current market sentiment is tax reduction so you will see some of the 2003 released from Waston are at very good price but I doubt how long would it last.  I suspect in about 3 months time when the tax reduction news is fully digested, the price will go up and up again.  So I do suggest anyone like 2003 bordeaux to stock up now.  Many of the price is just 100-200 above the cost at En primeur

those are my interested label except Lascombe, from their change and Mark from Parker,  u can predict what is inside, really Parker full body wine with lots of fruit.
