I have 4 exams now. How many exams do you have? Are you working in HK?

The major reinsurance companies in HK are RGA, Swiss Re, Hannover.

RGA only have Life business while Swiss Re and Hannover have Life and GI business.

You are big brother then, I have only 3 exams and will take the fourth one in November. I am working for a health insurance called Kaiser Permanente in California, and planning to come back to Hong Kong eventually.
What about you? Where do you work at and what do you think about the job market for upper level actuaies?

I work in the reinsurance company stated above. Let's guess~~
There are many jobs offer for associate or above in HK but few jobs offer for actuarial student.

I guess RGA~
So, what particular field are you doing? pricing, finance, reserves???

I am working in the field of valuation and reinsurance administration.
I have worked in the field of actuarial just 1 year.
How about you?Which field are you working in now?

I just graduated and worked only for two months. If you go to www.kp.org, you will find out more about the company i worked at. In general, it is a health insurance company.
O btw, i have been hearing that Hong Kong is now debating whether to have mandate health insurance to replace universal health care, is that true?
How did the market turned out after the MPF roll out? Just want to get an idea how it would turn out for something similar like mandate health insurance.

Now many insurance companies are launching the Health type product, the feature of these products is health plus life. The health benefit is accelerating the Life. If the insured has medical claim, the Net amount at risk will be deducted by the amount of the medical claim. The policy will terminate either the insured is dead or the net amount at risk is zero.

That sounds like life insurance is the most lucrative type of policy in HK. In US, health is going strong and eventually taking life over, a complete different story than HK...

Investment-link product also plays a major role in HK.

Sorry to interrupt on your conversation, but it's just so rare to find people talking about actuarial field in Hong Kong. I'm studying actuarial science in Australia. I would like to ask are there companies in HK that offer internships over winter?

I'm not IN the industry yet, but considering whether to work as a financial planner for AIA, I grad with a bachelor of marketing, do u guys have any advice for me?

like is AIA a good co. to work for? Is it very hard to jump out of the industry like ppl say? And is it possible for me to swap to other interal departments in the future if I found being an agent is not suitable for me? How do u compare working for an insurance co. with bank today?
