今日同個 friend 吹開水, 佢以前在南非 east london bmw度做. 佢話 tropical 地區 bmw motor oil 半年 5000km internally 流失少於 1 litre 係正常的. 通常motor oil 油流失得快好多都係 worn piston ring (內) 或 rocker cover gasket leak (外). computer 係 check 唔到的.

以你果架車咁, 如果係兩年車就好唔正常.

Thanks. BMW said they have checked the prston already with interanl mirror (correct procedures) and found nothing wrong inside.

Finally, BMW now agreed to follow up my car's problem. But as you said, I really feel there is serious problem inside

ASK THEM TO EXPLAIN WHAT THE CAUSE OF OIL ESCAPE IS. THE GUY I WHO TALK TO IN THIS MORNING WAS AN BMW MECHANICAL ENGINEER. HE SAID THAT YOUR CAR IS ABSOLUTELY "ABNORMAL" FOR THIS HIGH RATE OF OIL LOSS.

USING A MIRROR FOR CHECKING THE CONDITION OF THE CYLINDER/PISTON ?? I LEARNT IT NOW, LET GO TO THE MEDICAL SHOP AND GET AN FIBRE-OPTIC CAMERA

If according to your friend's figure, BM said it is "normal" which is correct, becasue my car is approx. 15000km in one year and lost 1.5 litres oil (which is only 0.5 litre for 5,000km).

The services guy said that the official reply is normal , but personally he think it is abnormal I am going to drive another maybe 5,000km and then retrun to Services to measure again to get more data for their report to BMW.

When they said they have checked the piston and piston ring etc. they told me NO need to open the engine cover but using "the internal mirror" - sometime like optical fibres (Sorry I don't know how to translate into English)

真 係 差 唔 多 不 過 你 架 又 真 係 比 平 常 既 來 到 做 左 d
呢 D 多 數 係 過 左 6萬 km 先 開 始 出 現

我 舊 果 架 Alfa 168 行 Highway 10000km 都 食 1L~1.5L Engine OIL
D Honda DC2R 丙 一 晚 九 龍 新 界 都 食 1L~1.5L Engine OIL

如 果 有 真 係 可 以 唔 洗 開 架

通常唔洗用d咁貴o既野, compression test就知, 當然如果有蛇仔 fault finding一定易好多

ok, if you insist on having a compression test , & they do it.
they 'll still find an 似是而非 reason to present to you.

these tech. means for them is a "backdoor" & for you . will continues to be a cat chasing it 's own tail.....

engine oil evaporates in an unreasonable amount is already a very adequate reason to file a claim or exchange of a vehicle in proper condition.

file the claim before the warranty expires..
there is another thread on bmw owners , check that out as well.
most experienced in lined with yours..

Thanks. My friend introduced a US forum which is also talking about engine oil vaporised on E46 330i but it is not talking too much (mainly about second hand sales). It just mentioned about the engine oil needs to be top up from time to time
