懷 念 70 年 代 中 國 學 生 週 刊 ?
Still find it hard to believe that the Clock Tower & Star Ferry Pier are gone forever! This demolition really brings back a lot of memories for me
My fond memory of HK is the early 70’s when I attended secondary school in Kowloon.
I recall there were 2 popular but competing youth papers at that time – HK Youth Weekly & Chinese Youth Weekly (the one above). My favorite was the latter as I was a huge fan of Sam Jor (左永然). He had a column there (before he spun off to start Music Week). Anyway my classmates & I would rush to the get it every week from the newsstand. We couldn’t wait till school was over but read it in class (& got caught a few times)!
As mentioned before, I bought the paper mainly to check what Rock album Sam would review that week but most of my friends were interested in the two Youth 信 箱 - 崑 南 & 蔓 流 for some of us going astray… ‘我 被 人 輪 大 米’ or ‘我 噚 晚 去 斬 人’ sound familiar? We’d debate whether it was real or just somebody’s imagination.. Wonder what happened to these kids, assuming that it was true? Did they pull themselves out or sink deeper into the crime web? What about the 信 箱 owners?
Not meant for serious discussions but if you happened to be ‘around’ at the time or of the same age group as me, would you care to share some of your thoughts or memories with us?
Thx
Background info: I’m HK born & raised, went to school in Canada in the mid 70’s, returned after graduation in 1980 only to leave again 2 years later to settle in Toronto until now. I guess maybe it’s 鳥 倦 知 還 or I’m just getting old, I’m currently contemplating retirement & move back to HK (to stay for a while anyway), just to visit all these places that I grew up with before they tear everything down.
