嚴長壽接掌圓山飯店的總裁時，有人好奇的問他為什麼放棄亞都飯店的職務來圓山。  
  
嚴長壽想了一會兒說：「因為圓山飯店的宗教氣息濃厚•」
  
見對方一臉疑惑，嚴長壽解釋道：  
「外國客人看到圓山飯店莊嚴華麗的大廳後，總是讚嘆『 Oh, My God! 』；
等到結帳時看到帳單又會驚呼『 Jesus Christ! 』」
