This HDR photo consists of tone mapping 3 photos of -2ev, 0 ev and +2ev. These three photos were taken with camera on rapid burst, hand held. The sun was not quite setting and hence really bright - despite the lens shade lens flare is evident. These photos were then tone mapped with photomatix (photoshop cs can perform similar function).

HDR have attracted criticism of being un-natural, but I suppose this is highly subjective.

I think it all depends on the effect/s that you are looking for.
