1. Transferring images directly from camera via cable to computer using software provided by the camera manufacturer.

Hey!
There are some cameras that has a specially fast speed transfer using their own transfer wire to the computer, much faster than using card reader.
One case in mind is the SONY PS camera.
The transfer speed is about 8x faster than using a card reader.

Card reader would b better because it also support other type of memory card. U can transfer ur fren's camera image also. However I suggest you to back up a camera transfer cable put it in ur camera in case u didn't bring card reader at least u hav sumthing back up.
