Starting from 5 May, there will be a Program on Pearl talking about coffee. The program is called "The Great Italian Coffee". I have seen the promotional copy. It is quite interesting. All Coffee Lovers, don't miss it!

This coffee is from Indonesia. Itis called Luwak coffee. It is much more expensive than the Blue Mountian.

Yes, I did.
But I tried it in an other restaurant and I received a certificate after drinking this coffee.
It is not easy to describe it.
I tried it black and there wasn't any hint of bitterness.
The smoothness and the pleasant earthy flavor teased my palate after the cup was empty.

but Starbucks at IFC has damn good view.

PCC is always "China style", you have to roll dice to see if you get good or bad coffee.

Starbucks is evenly average, not excellent coffee, but it's not that bad if you want something fast. no different than 大家樂 or McDonalds.

if you want decent espresso style coffee in HK that's fastfood style, try Illy. there's one in CWB past the elevators in Excelsior hotel, they also serve Macao's famous Lord Stow's portuguese egg tarts. (famous doesn't = good)

澳門近澳電/海富花園左右有間檀香山(有好多其他同名店, 我只去呢間).

去過你就知"港式"既TOP咖啡係乜. 我飲開brazilian santos. 仲要加多杯"機茶" (用espresso機出既紅茶), 超正.

點解我成日針對現時既港食? 因為用心度連澳門都不如....

同樣, 新馬路噴水池Watson's樓下間Singing Bean... 入去試下佢地D蛋糕 (尤其係個CARAMEL CRUNCH). 食過就明...

For ambience, SB is best. For quality, McCafe is really not bad and also good value.

In fact, freshly grinded coffee is much better. Cova is one of the oldest restaurant with good cafe in Milano (just learn from the program "The Great Italian Cafe"). Although it is expensive, it is worth....

usually, i'll just associate what you said with:
different people different tastes

i also quite like cova, but they're not the same thing as illy, at least not in HK.  Cova has restaurants and restaurant style food.  Illy AFAIK serves Starbucks/PC style fast food coffee.  so, unless you are referring to their beans which you bring home to brew your own cup of coffee, please stop comparing the two as the same thing.

if you are talking about their beans, then i have no idea what you are getting at.  If Illy's coffee is roasted in Italy and shipped here, then wouldn't Cova do the same?  If it's roasted in Hong Kong, then i question their standards and quality of roasting in Hong Kong.

btw, on a side note, stay away from Cafe Zambra's coffee (Stewart rd. and Jaffe rd. in Wanchai, next to Tom Lee).  Quite bad and even more over-roasted than Starbucks.

Only on fast food side. McCafe do not give out packed milk!

No la, that is only an impression. It will not take more than the time you wait at the coffee shop. Unless the coffee shop is using the industrial level coffee machine, otherwise, home made coffee usually can beat most of the coffee shops.

Mc Cafe always provides HOT milk in a little jar if you consume there!! And they even give you hot water just in case u find it too strong and want to dilute it!...

you are entitlted to believe everything "newspaper" tells you.

starbucks coffee beans are over roasted, which bring out a stronger aroma, but stronger doesn't equal better. i've been drinking starbucks since 1989-90 in vancouver, so i'm quire sure i've had more than enough experience with many types of beans they offer. if purely comparing coffee beans and black coffees(eg. espresso/americano), then illy's is definitely the best of the 4 "fast food coffee chains" and Cova being a close 2nd because it's a restaurant/patissier. however, my favourite is still Tan Heong San in Macau. AFAIK i have yet to have better coffee in Hong Kong, obviously more partial to 港式 coffee styles, even if it's brewed with an espresso machine. Caucasians have obviously missed out on the power of condensed milk.

ps. i suggest not using such confrontational smilies, it only weakens your argument and make you seem immature.
