Last night had these 2 wines. Quite a good memory.
Masseto 2001: I'm a fan of this Super Tuscan but the price has soared a lot. Sadly, its new vintages prices drive
me away. Very dark purple in color, plummy nose, seduces you to sniff and sniff, charming! Full
bodied, lingering finish with refined tannins. Gorgeous.
Chateau La Gaffeliere 2005: Not familiar with this St. Emilion. Just curious why R.P. scored it high. Once uncorked,
fragrance jumps out. Expressive nose, also dark purple, medium-full bodied, backward
but a deep wine with plenty of fruit. Needs time to blossom. Don't touch it if keeping for
a decade.
