Sounds profitable in the past years. But how to start?

There are some wine clubs in HK and overseas (particularly Australia). I was approached by one based in HK last year. You need @HK$50K to 100K to start.

Based in HK? No la. I'm afraid the HK company will close suddenly, or there are not enough trading volume that cannot reflect the market price.

I'm finding the biggest in overseas which can deal with "wine flower".

Which one?

I find one in the Next Magazine based in London:

http://www.farrvintners.com/

And the article:
http://rapidshare.com/files/20362300/one_investment.pdf

But the article in the magazine is too short which I can't get much info, but knowing this investment is very stable and profitable and hardly loss if u can buy fm the biggest winery.

And I think HK$50K to HK$100K is reasonable as starting. Say if u have 20% gain, u can earn only HK$10K to HK$20K, which is not much if your capital is too little, but the time spent is the same.

Bascially I don't drink red wine and I have no idea which brand is good (for investment). And also, what are the good yrs and location for good wine. But I don't think it is hard to gain the knowledge as there are plenty of books in the area.

Anyone has more experience? How to trade? What to buy? And what is your profit history?

Thks.

It's no harm to test drive the wine investment for a couple of years. But need to read more books abt the area in this month.

The worst case in mind is the company closes suddenly or the owner set fire to the warehouse (as the news yesterday night in USA).

期貨定係點? 點玩法? 好似基金咁定係自己續隻研究?

This is commodity, but each commodity is unique. So u buy a box of wine in 1990 will be much diff fm another box of wine in 1991 in the same winery.

I think we can buy "future", named as "wine flower". So u may order a box of wine to be produced in 2010 fm a top winery. If at the time when the 2010 wine is highly graded 3 years later, u will earn double or triple.

Since each commodity is so different and has different growth potential, u have to study the winery history individually.

And it seems not good to invest wines fm the New World like fm Australia nor USA.

At the end if u loss, u can order to ship back the real box of wine for self-use.

Do it or not need to see the average return. If it is only 10% per year, then not worth as I can find similar investment but with less risk. If having 20% return on average, then need to study deeply.

如果鍾意飲紅酒, 應該幾好玩, 不過自問唔夠膽大量投資。

Around 10% gain on average per year and is stable. An alternative than bank saving.

En primeur refers to " purchase of wines by investors before the wine is even bottled."  {{   in chinese   " wine flower "  }}

The trade is mainly centred around Bordeaux wines of France.

Some of the  best Chateau  known  by me are :

Latour, Lafite Rothschild, Haut-Brion, Margaux, Mouton Rothschild, Petrus.  ....................  (names in random order)

For u r information , the cellaring charges for en primeur wines are about HK $200 per case per year.   normally you  may store 8 to 10 years.

Start reading books, books themselves are very interesting besides making money.

Try to start to buy wines around HK$8K-10K per bottle, invest ~HK$100K in year 1.
But need to wait until the GBP is getting cheaper.

Wine prices are not only affected by the vintage  and the Chateau, but also by wine critics.
One of the most influential wine critics is Robert Parker  who is Americian.
