I don't think 64-bit is twice faster than 32-bit. It should be like 20-25% only, if the CPU is still the same type.
Double memory bus bandwidth but instruction piping within the CPU is still the same, which is one of the main speed indicator.
Therefore if the CPU is Xeon class, you will only get 20-25% speed increase.
Itanium will out run Xeon much faster, on same 64-bit Windows and same clock speed due to the multiple-piping inside the Itanium design.

The speed improvement also depends on whether the applications can support 64-bit instructions. Using the 64-bit version of Vista but the applications are not specially compiled for 64-bit environment, you won't gain much. 作者: xfire 時間: 2007-9-20 09:31
