I just got two Inspiron 6400 (same as E1505) the past summer. One for myself and one for my wife. The overall build quality is surprsingly good. The chasis feels study and solid. Software package is ok, not the best around for sure. The battery life is not as long even with the optional 9 cell battery. 3 hours is about the max, depending on how intensively you are using the CPU and hard drive.
I had done entensive research before settling with Dell. No matter how you look at it, Dell still gives the best bang for the buck.
Honestly, I really don't believe that brand new Dell computers would consist of any "used" or refurbished" parts. As the largest PC manufacturer in the world, the stake is simply too big to cheap out on minor details like this.
Dell recently has invested millions of dollars in revitalizing its customer service. I assume we should see improvement.
Overall I am happy with my purchase. Just one advice: Don't bother spend extra money on the XP MME, as Dell Media Experience is a very good program itself. Save the money on a N network card (if you have a N router)or bluetooth card instead.
