泰國軍方宣布發動政變 (23:51)

泰國軍方電視台宣布，軍方宣布發動政變，而身在紐約的總理他信則宣布國家進入緊急狀態。

十多輛坦克晚上開入首都曼谷的政府總部外，阻止車輛通過，也佔領了總理府。軍方電視台即時中斷正常廣播，只播出泰王的照片和播出軍樂和愛國歌曲，其後宣布發動政變，也宣布成立軍方及警察首長政治改革委員會。

他信在香港時間晚上十一時十分透過電視宣布國家進入緊急狀態，他又宣布把軍隊的指揮權轉到總理府，變相解除了軍方司令職務，他又下令軍隊不要非法行動，電視台聲明播出了十三分鐘後訊號中斷。泰國政府官員早前表示，總理他信將於周四從紐約回國，較預期早了一日。

泰國南部局勢近期緊張，加上國會大選將臨，反他信陣營蠢蠢欲動，泰國總理他信早已向閣員下達禁足令，如果沒有必要，不得出國。
