After reading the post, I feel like to put in my 5 cent worth. Hope that it can clear some confusion.
I agree that fish bowl places are "generally" safer than gogo bars. But the 屈 symptom is not common in gogo bar either.
Some people have that feeling mainly because the 肉金 in gogo bars are negotiated between the customer and gogo girl. And the gogo girl will know how to make the most out of the potential customer based on many external factors (such as time of the night, where the customer come from.....). On the other hand,肉金 in fish bowl are generally fixed. In fact if you are handsome and the time is late, perhaps you will feel that it is cheaper to have "fun" with the gogo girl than with a fish bowl girl.
I also agree the other brother's priority of gogo bar choice (ie 1. Soi Cowboy, 2. Nana 3. Pat Pong). Buteven in PatPong, if you avoid the second floor bar, you should be quite safe. In Patpong, most of the bars belong to King's group are relatively well managed.
Ironically, although I prefer Soi Cowboy than the other 2 gogo areas, Baccarat is the one I particularly dislike in Soi Cowboy. If their lady drinks cost 300B, there is one more reason I will not go. By the way, those deep V uniform girls outside Baccarat are not freelancers, they are employees. Many years ago, I made a mistake by barfining one out without pre-agreeing a price. when I told her I did not intend to have sex with her while we were playing pool outside, we had a slight argument in the public. Luckily I skillfully solved the problem.
Responding to one of the brothers' concern about fear of being cheated in the GG bar, I think he does not need to worry that much. According my Thai experiences, Thai people are generally honest and friendly. Perhaps the following rules of thumb will help:
(1) Always respect other party no matter who is paying for service.
(2) do not behave like an asshole in the public
(3) do not be too aggressive but also no need to act too timid or demure. Just be yourself.
(4) If you do not want to buy lady drink, you can be firm but polite. No one will force you to pay anything (come to think of it, the bars in BKK are much safer than those in Wanchai).
I think brothers will find my post too verbose. I should stop here. If anyone is interested, I would like to talk about my personal view about the difference of fun between gogo girls and fish bowl girls.
