No!
Employment unit may fire an employee as usual but have to compensate them according to the law. Please refer to the part of termination of contract from labour law.
The main different is, there is no need to renew an emplyment contract after completion of the original contract term, and the original employment contract would be extended automatically.

I don't think so, by law the employee would be secured by the social security fund invested previously from both employing unit and the employee ownself.
用人单位自用工之日起满一年不与劳动者订立书面劳动合同的,视为用人单位与劳动者已订立无固定期限劳动合同。
P.S. Above statement is talking about
de facto employment relationship between employing unit and employee.
