OK, my thought from 3 different perspectives
1) factory girls: when they are considering of becoming K girls (because of factory closure), they would check their friends (already K girls) for advice on how much they could earn. Now, K business is not good, K girls' earning is not good and they will tell their factory girls friends that the $ earned nowadays is just so-so.
2) K. , their businesses are affected by the poor economy, they do not need too many girls.  They may cut down the incentive of introducing new girls, thus the existing K girls would have less incentive to ask others to join.  
3) K girls: income is already not good and they would not like more competitors (nice-looking ones) to compete for business. In the good old days, they do not mind introducing factory girl friends since the biz. is so good (my ex-LB is one of them.. )

7-siu, I understand your point as K, sna are all $ sucking companies (and poor girls).  However, I believe that  every K. should have a maximum avg. customers v nui nui ratio ( I guess it is 1 : 1.5, i.e. 1 customer : 1.5 nui nui)  or otherwise, they will get in too many pork chops (assume there is a constant pork chop ratio) or there will be too many girls having high chance of eat white fruit..  

All are my assumptions. I may be wrong. don't beat me. haha
