I travel to Singapore almost once other month and would also like to put my two cents in.
You know how we call Singapore? It's a "fine" country, because you get fined for selling chewing gum, not flushing toilet after use, littering, and many many more...
I agree it seems Singapore has a better education system and most products from the system are bi-lingual, tri-lingual, etc. Unfortunately, it is also quite obviously that most Singaporean think they are on top of the world now, especially when they are teasing the poor Mandarin and English spoken by people from Hong Kong, not realizing the funny accent of their Singlish!
Most Singaporean rely a lot on their government. They worry nothing because they believe their government will take care of them and lead them out of darkness (quoted from one of my colleagues in Singapore), even at economic crisis like now.
Some women working in nightclubs told me they like Singaporean men because they are quite often not as cautious as Hong Kong guys. They are easy to be pleased (and cheated).
After all I still like Singapore because of the food there (laska, satay, balck pepper crab, Hainan chicken rice), low crime rate, non-existance of communism and the much less-polluted environment. Before 1997, Hong Kong was a lot better than Singapore because we enjoyed more freedom. I can't be sure now!
