i suppose it would be less costly, but still you can visit FL one by one and choose a good-looking FL妹妹 entirely on your own.  is my perception out of reality?  please advise.

Highly agree.  This kind of situation is with greater possibility of being set up, especially for those who are not local and not familiar with the circumstantces.

Therefore, I would rather look for MM's who work for particular SN or FL.   

Can someone please tell me if MM's from hair salon are normally willing to go out with the clients?

I tried lots of time for out call. the best location is FL in Hanghua area. normal price is 300-350rmb from 12:30 to 6:00am. You should pretend you are living in shanghai and know the price.
