Bangkok in general is a very nice place to live in. Basically its the culture of the people there where they are simple and tolerant people. But night life wise its always better to avoid the agogo bars as its normally frequented by the westerners. Asians normally go to the fish bowls or the discos to pick up girls if they have the time.

Thre is one disco called CM2 where many freelances are working. There one can pick any girl and bring back to hotel for 1 night of enjoyment for a fee.. I remembered the price was 3000bhat. Not sure about now but i do know the girls used to charge 5000bhat if they are really hot and on weekends when the place is packed.

Haha i know what u mean about those ladyboys(katoeys), had a experience once near pratunam famous chicken rice. Saw this table of gorgeous chicks, even brought flowers from a small girl there for them. When the one i was interested in came over to thank me then i realised she was actually a HE! But still he was so beautiful and shapely i was so tempted to try him...

No doubt its no longer cheap but that is if you stay and spend like a tourists. If one is able to spend and live like a local, its actually very cheap to get by. Maybe C hing u must be referring to the nightlife? Tourist spots have indeed gone up. But the local chinese joints are still quite affordable and the std and service is still as good.
