因為兩首歌都出現一相同主腳..Major Tom.
根據Space Oddity 既歌詞,Major Tom 喺一名虛構既太空人...成功升上太空....從此一去不返.

喺一名道友, 睇番Space Oddity 既歌詞, 其實喺描述吸毒後既所有幻象.........與甚麼太空人毫無關係....又好似好合理.

當然網上又有另一派認為Space Oddity 同 Ashes to Ashes 與吸毒無關..... Major Tom 依然喺一名虛構既太空人...佢喺太空漂浮得太耐,好想返回地面('ve never done good things i've never done bad things i never did anything out of the blue, want an axe to break the ice, want to come down right now).....奈何ground control (控制中心) 認為佢已經毫無利用價值,都费Q事理佢救佢...索性"屈"佢喺一名癲佬道友....
