4% growth during this period is not as good when compared to what you can do by yourself.

Let's assume one has subscribed for all IPO's with over 100X over-subscription (I won't subscribe for those with less than 100X) with margin during that period, and hold the stock until now.

I have subscribed for #1833 and #606 with a gain of 1.5% and 6% respectively, #538 @ 5%, #1883 @ 2.5%. So when you compound that, I am getting a return of over 10% vs. Macquarie's 4% during the same period. They are only simulating what you would otherwise do, and there's absolutely no skill involved. Why pay them the commission when you can DIY.
