RoadShow路訊通《尚駿生活》的陳珍妮

Although Jenny is not even close to be the most beautiful or cute girl in 83 but she certainly has a very unique style to report news.

No offense but Jenny's English.....

No offense but Jenny speaks very fluent English. The only thing is that her accent isn't quite Cantonese. I was surprised the first time I watched her hosting weather report because her oral English i ...
My point is Jenny's English is superior comparing with other Cantonese but there is still an obvious gap between she and native speaker. I personally had goosebumps when I first heard she reported weather, I'm able to get every single word from her but I guess it's the odd pronunciation that made me had it.

I think she is very difficult to become as the accent of the English native  speaker!! Because she in fact is a Cantonese native speaker!! It is totally different of the English native speaker from w ...
I totally understand your point but this is Pearl, it is suppose to be for native speakers.

There is a logical problem that must be made clear. It is not necessary for all the anchors to be native English speakers or reach the native level of oral English even if Pearl has native speakers as ...
I think we should just end the argument here.

Jenny is pretty good in translation from English-Chinese.

珍妮英文即時翻譯真係好叻!!
對珍妮有好高評價!!
It's not excellent but still very good especially considering English is not very good her first language.

TOP

As I said, Jenny is far way from being a native speaker but she is very good considering her background.

Who knows? I guess we could assume that Jenny is best in English among all the anchors in channel 83.

Oh, I think Diamond Cheng must be as good as Jenny in English.
Unfortunately, she is never an anchor of channel 83.
Connie may be fine in English too considering she has handled well in few episodes of "時事百科" that required some specific English terminologies.

Why do you think Diamond is better than Jenny while she is speaking in English??
I think they are both good when speaking in English!
The term he used was "as good as" meaning Diamond and Jenny probably are in the same level category in terms of speaking English.

I am not trying to be dubious of Connie's English standard, but the mere fact that she can handle a few specific English terminologies like "quantative easing" doesn't mean that she is good in English ...
See, of course words or two can't define the English level for a person but it does imply something, "Quantitative easing" is not an easy phrase to pronounce especially for people who doesn't speak English much. Channel 83 has to decide someone to do this episode and pronounce it, Connie was given the chance so we could see the faith and confidence from TVB to Connie's English.

I understand what you are saying. However, what if Connie hosted the Pearl weather report?

It is definitely unfair to allege that Connie would do a worse job than Jenny. I am not trying to make suc ...
Absolutely, but what we are discussing are all hypothetical but I guess we could assume that Jenny will do a better job than Connie. Unfortunately, we may never know.

A very simple way to improve your English in a fun way is to read or watch something you are very interested in English (For example - Sports)

Jenny's Pearl weather report may perhaps be a better choice, considering the discussion nature of this particular forum.
The sad part is, and you would probably flame me about this, Jenny's English is not the ideal accent you want to imitate.

Jenny's pronunciation still has room to improve.

meters
territory
relative

She pronounced the word "meters" in an unnatural way. I don't know why she raised the intonation.

"New Territories"...well, she made a mistake there indeed. It sounds like "torritories" more than " ...
I was easy on her already...

She pronounced relative as rea-a-tive. I believe this occurred because she was pacing it.

owns Jenny English.

Although that girl is pretty nervous (maybe she's not too confident in her English skill) but her English oral is simply better than Jenny and it's not even close.

I would say that Diamond's oral English sounds more Cantonese than Jenny's.
Diamond was more articulate than Jenny, but they were of the same level in terms of fluency.
I really have no idea of what more Cantonese English is.... Well at least Diamond gets the pronunciation correct and not create a new vocabulary out like Jenny.
