Well, it is 100% true that he has the right to supporty or reject Anson Chan. And according to your logic,  it can explain why Pan-Democractic was decline their advantage in recent year. I think it is not related to the right to do or not to do, on the other hand, once he accept the selection procress (actually he join the selection process and the debate), he should understand that once he failed in selection (and actually he said that he has prepared to lose), Anson Chan will respresent Pan-Deomcaractic in coming election.
