油麻地貨物起卸區一艘內地貨櫃船，凌晨一時前發生三級火，並發生爆炸，消防灌救約五小時後，到早上六時前救熄，火警造成十八人受傷，包括十二名消防員及六名船員。傷者送往伊利沙伯、瑪麗及律敦治三間醫院治理。消防表示，受傷消防員，有八人皮膚有2%至8%燒傷，主要是手部及面部灼傷，另外四位是扭傷及撞傷。六名船員，包括船長，部份人亦有燒傷。

以「庫茲涅佐夫號」航空母艦為首的俄海軍艦艇編隊已於日前駛離位於母港北莫曼斯克，前往目的地地中海。對於俄航母編隊前往大西洋和地中海的意圖，眾說紛紜，部分俄羅斯媒體認為，「庫茲涅佐夫號」航艦前往地中海是為了保衛敘利亞，避免受到歐美國家攻擊，落得跟利比亞同樣下場。

與該艦一起出航的還有「恰巴年科海軍上將號」大型反潛艦和多艘護衛船隻。在這支艦隊駛往大西洋和地中海水域的過程中，還有來自俄波羅的海艦隊和黑海艦隊的多艘艦艇將加入其中。

而美軍在此地區早已部署了最新服役的「喬治•布希號」（USS George H.W. Bush，CVN-77）核動力航艦、兩艘飛彈巡洋艦和兩艘驅逐艦。俄羅斯媒體報導，俄美兩支航母艦隊的實力加以對比，俄羅斯海軍艦隊根本不是美軍的對手。

「喬治•布希號」航艦上搭載有68架固定翼飛機和直升機，包括48架F/A-18「超級大黃蜂」戰鬥機、4架E-2C預警機、4架EA-6B 電戰機、4架C-2A運輸機、8架SH-60直升機和其他裝備。而「庫茲涅佐夫號」上只搭載有26架Su-33戰鬥機、18架Ka-27反潛直升機、4架Ka-31預警直升機和2架Ka-27PS搜救直升機。就艦載機數量與質量而言，俄羅斯均不是對手。

Wow, such a big topic c-hing should know better than me...

Well, I try to give my humble opinion...

The current Syrian regime faces giant pressures both from the West and Middle East, it is estimated that the situation is not sustainable given what happens in the region i.e. Eygpt, Libya... Russia although now may looks backing up the existing government but eventually would not take the risks to intervene militarily as the US has successfully spread seeds of violations in the upcoming presidential election in 2012... Therefore it is a matter of time the S government to be replaced.
  
Traditionally when there are chaos, USD will be the beneficiary due to flight to safe heaven patterns, and it is indeed happening in the short run, and as you correctly pointed out that a weakening EUR is the key to falling stock markets, that tension may add fuels to the oil markets of squeezing higher in addition to Iran factors... Gold is behaving not as expected as a safe heaven for chaos recently but may eventually behave so when markets really get unstoppable fears....
