See, of course words or two can't define the English level for a person but it does imply something, "Quantitative easing" is not an easy phrase to pronounce especially for people who doesn't speak English much. Channel 83 has to decide someone to do this episode and pronounce it, Connie was given the chance so we could see the faith and confidence from TVB to Connie's English.

Absolutely, but what we are discussing are all hypothetical but I guess we could assume that Jenny will do a better job than Connie. Unfortunately, we may never know.

In the past, my english level was very poor, just got the pass result (e) in HKCEE of  English Language in syllabus A!! This is a unacceptable result in my life!! Just because, I was lazy in my secondary school, and unwilling to practice English and pay the efforts to learn it well , afterward, I strove to improving my poor english, I started to learn the vocabularies from english newspaper and story books!! Then I took the foundation diplopma and Higher diploma, during in this period  I had learnt many of vocabularies in my studies!! Gradually, I realized that my English had got the greatly improvement, in the past I felt very difficult to finish the 300 words essays, but now I feel I can finish it easily!! Have a good foundation of english is very important!! It can help you easiler to find the job and study!! In the higher education courses, every subjects, a foundation of english is requied!! I don't tell you my english is very good! but it can communicate with others easier and help me finished my higher diploma, it is the truth!! Finally, I have got the degree recently!! As long as you are willing to pay the efforts to improve your english, you can be successful!!

Brother, add oil!!, improving your english is important!!

I always stress the importance to learning English and of course as a Chinese, Cantonese and PTH are an huge asset for our life.

I really agree.......English is very important skill and tool in finding a good job....I remember that I missed many good job as I could not answer smooth and present myself well in English while I was facing the interviewers....I would like to spend more time and efforts to improve my English....

Brother, you are an immigrant from hk when you are younger?? Why do your chinese, specially the Cantonese is not good??

I born in Canada and moved to HK when I am 6, moved back to Canada when I am 12, got my bachelor degree in UBC and master in Northwestern. I am then blessed with a great chance returning to HK for my current job.

I am still studying the vocabularies from english news paper, english story books, I need to improve my listening skill, even though I felt that my english level is gradually improving , but I still think that my english vocabs haven't learnt enough!!
In the study and general english using I think that is enough for applying for!!
but when I read the english books about few hundred pages, I found many of words I hadn't seen before and only had a few chances for using!! So I need to improve my english gradually!! Can you advise me how to improve my english?? I have taken some english courses before, but just got a little improvement!!

A very simple way to improve your English in a fun way is to read or watch something you are very interested in English (For example - Sports)

You english is quite good!!
Don't tell me your english is primary school level!!

I studied my Primary here in HK and my Chinese dramatically improved when I returned to HK after graduation, living with my grandparents really does help.

Same question here, much higher standard than primary level.

I started to use English to reply the posts in October!!! But it was simply few people/no one replied me in English!!
So I gradually returned to use Chinese in this forum!!
Untill I found someone will use english in this forum recently!!
I return again to use english!!
