I do not condone personal attack but I also felt that Windsorfan was somewhat emotive, over-reactive and quick-tempered, and possibly without too much experience in relating to fellow members in forums. So we responded to him and
waited to see how he would respond (and also takashi11 to clarify details). If Windsorfan had persisted in his attitude, I would have next threatened (or taken at once) disciplinary action. It turned out that he was good enough to reword his opinion, and no disciplinary action is as yet necessitated.
For all his previous manner of expression, Windsorfan did have a point in some of what he said, i.e.
he was still sincere. What happened was different from other cases of disputes in this forum where someone
seemed
deliberately provocative and bad-mannered, who deserved at least a deduction of points from me
(and others if they choose to).
Do not think that what I say here is
based on hindsight; all along I have returned to the thread to assess the situation.
Trust me, I am now doing my third term of office as forum master here. For years I have witnessed a great many disputes in the forum
(and been involved in a few myself
) and acquired a certain amount of experience in handling them.
Still, your suggestions and help are always welcome.
